About Shorea wood: Shorea is a tropical hardwood which grows naturally and plentifully in Pacific Rim countries. It is closely related to teak and is a considerably less expensive option than teak. Dense and hard, shorea is highly resistant to rot and bug infestation, and very resistant to wear and marring. Shorea will weather naturally to a warm shade of grey over a period of about one year; if you prefer to maintain the original color of the wood, you can apply teak oil seasonally.
